Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 5, 2026
CueCard (“we,” “our,” “us”) is a small, independently-run service that helps you remember and celebrate the birthdays of the people you care about. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the limited cases in which we share it.
What we collect
- Account information: the email address you sign in with.
- Contact information: the names, email addresses, and birthdays of the contacts you add. This information is provided by you and is used solely to send the birthday messages you schedule.
- Message content: the text of the birthday messages you compose.
- Sending logs: a record of when messages are sent on your behalf, kept for delivery diagnostics and to enforce free-tier limits.
- Anonymized usage counts: to enforce free-tier limits fairly, we keep a count of recent sends tied to a one-way (irreversible) hash of your email address rather than the address itself. This is the only information that may persist after account deletion (see “Your data, your control” below).
- Authentication tokens: short-lived sign-in tokens delivered to your email address.
- Billing information (Pro plans):if you subscribe to Pro, we store an identifier for your customer and subscription with our payment processor and your current plan status. We never see or store your full card number — card details are entered directly with Stripe (see “Payments” below).
How we use your information
- To send the birthday emails you schedule, to the addresses you provide.
- To send you reminder emails about upcoming birthdays.
- To authenticate you and protect your account.
- To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your contact list for marketing or share it with third parties for advertising.
Affiliate links
Some pages on CueCard contain affiliate links to third-party retailers. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are how we keep the core service free. Clicking an affiliate link may set cookies or trackers from the destination retailer; their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate CueCard:
- Vercel— application hosting.
- Neon— managed Postgres database.
- Resend— email delivery for sign-in links, birthday messages, and reminders.
- Inngest— scheduled job execution (the cron that sends messages on the day).
- Stripe— payment processing for Pro subscriptions (see “Payments” below).
- KLIPY— powers the optional GIF search when you add a GIF to a birthday message (Pro plans). When you search for GIFs, your search terms are sent to KLIPY, and KLIPY may collect usage data as described in its own privacy policy. We do not send KLIPY your contacts or message text.
Each of these providers processes data on our behalf and is bound by their own privacy policies and security practices. We do not give them access beyond what they need to perform their function.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers on the CueCard site itself. (Note: clicking an affiliate link may take you to a third-party site that uses its own cookies.)
Payments
Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe, which acts as our payment processor. When you upgrade, your payment is entered and handled on Stripe's secure, hosted checkout — your full card number, CVC, and similar payment details go directly to Stripe and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We keep only a Stripe customer identifier, a subscription identifier, your plan status, and the current billing-period date so we can give you access to Pro features and show your renewal date. Stripe processes this information as described in its own privacy policy. If you enable it, Stripe may also collect billing-address information to calculate applicable sales tax or VAT.
Email opt-out
You will receive birthday messages and reminder emails for the contacts you have added. You can stop these at any time by deleting the relevant contacts or your account. Sign-in link emails are only sent in response to your sign-in requests.
Your data, your control
You can delete any contact, message, or your entire account at any time. When you delete a contact, all associated messages are removed. When you delete your account, your personal data — contacts, messages, sending history, and your email address — is removed.
The one exception is an anonymized usage count: to stop the free-tier limit from being reset by deleting and recreating an account, we retain a count of your recent sends keyed to a one-way hash of your email. We cannot reverse this hash to recover your address, and these records are automatically discarded once they age out of the usage window (twelve months). If you sign up again with the same email, this count is applied to your new account.
Separately, if you have ever subscribed to Pro, Stripe retains a record of your transactions in its own systems. We may also retain limited billing records (such as invoices) where required to meet tax and accounting obligations, even after you delete your account.
Children
CueCard is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated by email to active users.
